31 January 2010
Poor weather in Peterhead in the last month has made
training very difficult but there are marathons to be run later in the year.
Good to see Alan & Terry in the Nairn results from yesterday. A club
results sheet from 2009 should be posted to everyone very soon and all
available magazines from the past can be found online (I think!).
25 November 2009
Tide times mean that the Annual Beach
Run is later this year - The route is, of course, Peterhead to Fraserburgh
and on Sunday 7 February 2010 from Peterhead Golf Club 10 / 11.45am start (Exact
time to be confirmed). There will be showers at the Fraserburgh James
Ramsay Pavilion at finish; thanks to the Milnes!.
9 October 2009 - John D is back to racing again. He writes '
Through
perseverance I have managed to overcome muscle ache and injuries, so a
better result for the Kenilworth Half-Marathon. 1-50-41 in 271st place -
464 finishers. In 30 or so years of running, that was my first ever race in
England. My perception is that the age profile is somewhat lower than in
Scotland.
28 August 2009 - A good day for running our 10k, autumn temperatures and
light winds; Alan made a great attempt to retain his title but is struggling
with injury. The highest number yet, 149, started the race; Well done,
Duncan for the organising! Thank go to lots of others ... cluding Jim &
Sandra, Sandra and other Brocher who marshalled and Michael from Buckie ...
great to see other clubs helping out ... hope we can return the favour!
Neil still managed round in a good time afew days after his 50miler ... what
is this man made of?
24 August 2009 - Neil continues to clock up the miles, 50miles at Strathaven
in just under 9 hours (they added an extra few hundred yards to the
finishing line).
6 August 2009 - Darren has just been telling me about Terry winning
the corriyairack challenge ... fanastic achievement ... fired up by the
second competitor cutting corners during the run.
3 Aug 2009 - To think that I
may have beaten
Alan Reid (is 93-07 a PW?) at the Dyce half ... but I pulled my hamstring at
Ballater (Yes, I have a muscle there!) ... Good to see John Diffey sprinting
for the line with Anne Smith; Neil MacRitchie made up a rare PRC team
finishing the event
9 July 2009 - Alan Reid is the only club member to run on the track this
year; he has competed at the AAAC club championships at 5000m (17-18.7) and
10000m (35-18.3). 25 laps of a track is not the most interesting
pastime! Is there any interest in holding a club championship 5000m at
Catto Park this year?
Anyone heard from our Canadian runner, Andrew Greig?
Anyone got results from Longside 10k or Mintlaw 10k?
email me john@peterheadrunningclub.co.uk
20 June 2009 - Good to see John Diffey and Sandy Hastie back to racing this
year. John has completed some of the Forest Runs winning his age group
at Ben Aigan while Sandy has been completing 5k & 10k races. Ian
Duguid won his 5k race at Mintlaw ... he's pretending that this is as far as
he is able to run ... what about Neil's 95 mile run!
Alan Reid in action at Nairn NDL, 31 Jan 2009
(nabbed from the excellent forres harriers website)

Peterhead to Fraserburgh Beach Run
2009 - Results

JR at the Jedburgh half marathon in the gales
District relays
Alan Reid ran all four legs and finished 7th overall; he was 4th
after the first leg.
Scottish 100k Championships
Alan Reid was third in this race around 42 lap course at the Inches
in Perth ... he was the only runner to break 10 minutes for a lap and in
fact did this for 11 of the first 16 laps so had a lead of 10min52 sec at
38k (lapping the second runner who eventually won). He had been caught
by 50k (3hr 43-17) so did well to complete the run. Neil MacRitchie
also complete the course running well at 50k (4hr 47-06) but was outside his
10hr 30min target by the finish (see
results page)
Peterhead 10k race

Alan Reid won our 10k race and said he was bored because nobody came to
challenge him ... a 100k race is in the plans so he had run over 100 miles
already in the week so a little 6 miler would seem short! The weather
was hot (17oC) with a light wind. We had 94 runners with quite a few
locals ... Ally was our first local.
Well done Duncan (wife & daughter) for all the organising, Peter & Elaine (&
family) did great with all the food, and the Mundies with the time keeping.
Good to see John D with all the signs and Bruce the farmer helping the
tidying up.
