This year's beach run will be on Sunday 12th
February 2012 starting at 8am so be there between 7-30 & 7-45am.
07 January 2012
Welcome to the new year! Lots of PBs last
year so here's hoping this year is as good
25 November 2011
Our 10k (13 Nov) produce good personal best
time for Stuart Mutch and a 3rd place for Terry.
Well done, Duncan for the organisation and all the helpers ... Carol-ann
has taken a video that you can find on the 10k pages.
Terry (5th) was joined by Darren (6th) at the Broch half the following week;
Stuart Main ran a big personal best being under 2hours for the first time.
11 October 2011
Some great runs to finish the season; Stuart
Mutch made a huge improvement in his marathon time 2hr -55min at Loch Ness
while Stuart Main broke the 50min barrier at the Dyke 10k. Well done
to you both!
21 September 2011
Some good times at Buckie 10k with John D dipping well under 50mins
and Stuart Main being very near. Stuart Mutch continues to run faster
with each race winning in the coastal run and doing a personal best at the
Peterhead half despite the wind ... it may be the secret training with
Darren! Wishing Alan Reid well after his trouble with 10 ton lorries
... surely Terry can now beat him in training!
6 September 2011
New date for our 10k road race
Sunday 13th November 2011
6 July 2011
A lot of races in the last few weeks with John
Diffey running the midweek forest races and clocking a season's best at the
weekend's Portsoy 10k. Alan also ran well to get near the 35min barrier; the
lairig ghru race was probably a painful experience for him and I'm surprised
Neil had legs to complete this after running the West Highland way the
previous weekend ... roll on the cross Mount Blanc trek!
Stuart & Carol-Ann crossed stream and bail at the Ythan challenge and want
to do it again next year while Terry finished 3rd at Corrieyairack despite
missing the two week training leading up to it.
22 June 2011
Well done to Stuart Mutch who won at the 'Broch' 10k in a new PB.
Neil ran for over 31 hours to complete the West Highland Way ... awesome!
17 June 2011
Two winners on 5th June and neither of them was Alan ... but he did
win the day before at Knockhill. Stuart Mutch & Terry leading the
fields at the lifeboat 10k & the Nairnshire challenge. Alan also finish 4th at the beach 10k
with a good time running into a strong wind.
John Diffey has been very active completing at least three of the mid week
Forest runs around Forres and the Ben Aigan Hill race.
24 May 2011
Great run by Stuart Mutch in Edinburgh, a new PB 3-07-37, but
sounds very windy in the last 8 miles so there is plenty time to come off at
the next one (nae pressure Stuart!). Meanwhile Neil MacRitchie was
running the 55 miles around the Cateran Trail but only half his 29
hour epic effort earlier in the year!
Four runners at the Baker Hughes 10k, all running well, Sandy Hastie took a
chunk off his time from last year and Stuart Main is heading towards that
50min barrier.
19 May 2011
Lots of racing this weekend. Good luck Stuart in Edinburgh;
the weather could be a bit breezy for the Aberdeen 10k; the Longside 10k is
not running this year.
22 April 2011
Well done marathon men, Ally (at London) & Duncan (at Zurich); have
a look at the pictures of Ally at London to see a very tired athlete at the
end!
29 March 2011
Lots of marathons planned:- Stuart, Carol-Ann & Ally
are heading for London, Duncan for Zurich, Stuart runs in Edinburgh ... hope
they all have been putting in the miles! Alan (50k) and Neil (90k) have
both outdone us all by putting in many laps of Perth.
25 March 2011
Lots of activity by our blue vests ... Stuart Mutch ran
a PB for the half at Garioch and Terry ran for the first time for a while
clocking up a good 10k time near the front ... Alan has crocked himself but
still finished high up at Inverness ... Stuart Main competed for the club
for the first time ... Neil has started the long distances again running the
Deeside 33 ... good to hear that John D is back to 10k and 10 milers ...
Duncan is preparing for longer races with a couple of halves in the last few
weeks including at Inverurie, probably the warmest day of the year so far.
25 February 2011
Alan has had a great start to
the year winning the District League title again (12th time outright, plus 2
shared titles) ... the man's a legend! He also completed the beach run
ahead of everyone again against quite a head wind so times were slower ...
I'm trying to track down some of the old times for this event so send in a
copy if you have any ... Cameron has put his ' Beach run' video on You-tube
so this must be worth a viewing.
Hibernation time is nearly over so hopefully a few more
runners will make their appearances in events ... Neil & Duncan are already
out ... Ally is in for the 'London' so hopefully a few weekends are nice for
those much needed long runs.
10 September 2010
Nearing the end of the road racing season.
Good turnout at the 10k race on a very windy day so times were slower than
last year. Alan had run the Speyside Way (35miles) the previous day having
won the broch coastal run (17miler) 7 days before this.
The windy seems to have been a feature of most races
this year, Darren battled behind Alan in his first race this year. Neil and
Duncan had a torrid last 6 miles into the head wind in the Iceland
marathon. Since then Neil has run over 100miles over a 'Mount Blanc'
route. John R has finally passed Alan in a race ... Alan was running the
Elgin marathon while JR was only doing half ... rumour has it that Terry was
seen on his bike!
19 July 2010
Good to see Peterhead runners in results; Neil
has run a large number of the ultramarathons and must be the most active
runner in Scotland at these distances; Alan joined him at the Lairig Ghu and
also was near the front at the Stonehaven half; I (JR) was in Wengen, home
of the 'Downhill' ski races, a training run consisted of 25min down hill and
then 35min continous uphill; consequently I am now injured! I think Terry is
taking a 'recovery' break but Darren is now training fast again; Sandy has
broken 70min for a 10 miler at Forres and Cromdale man (JD) has also
appeared in results so it must be summer inland as well!
26 April 2010
Neil completed the Highland Fling in just under 13
hours while Duncan ran around London in 4hours 39min; well done both of you!
30 March 2010
Neil has completed a double marthon already this year;
he apparently started suffering at 22 miles ... still with 30miles to go!
Mark Cauldwell won the beach run again on this 21st running; good to see
Sandy running in the Peterhead colours again. Alan has got some of his
speed back again running 7th in the Moray 10k; Ally dipped under 40min at
Inverurie 10k. Still to see any Robertsons, John or Peter in any races!
31 January 2010
Poor weather in Peterhead in the last month has made
training very difficult but there are marathons to be run later in the
year. Good to see Alan & Terry in the Nairn results from yesterday. A club
results sheet from 2009 should be posted to everyone very soon and all
available magazines from the past can be found online (I think!).
25 November 2009
Tide times mean that the Annual Beach Run is
later this year - The route is, of course, Peterhead to Fraserburgh and on
Sunday 7 February 2010 from Peterhead Golf Club 10 / 11.45am start (Exact
time to be confirmed). There will be showers at the Fraserburgh James
Ramsay Pavilion at finish; thanks to the Milnes!.
9 October 2009
John D is back to racing again. He writes 'Through
perseverance I have managed to overcome muscle ache and injuries, so a
better result for the Kenilworth Half-Marathon. 1-50-41 in 271st place -
464 finishers. In 30 or so years of running, that was my first ever race in
England. My perception is that the age profile is somewhat lower than in
Scotland.
28 August 2009
A good day for running our 10k, autumn temperatures and
light winds; Alan made a great attempt to retain his title but is struggling
with injury. The highest number yet, 149, started the race; Well done,
Duncan for the organising! Thank go to lots of others ... cluding Jim &
Sandra, Sandra and other Brocher who marshalled and Michael from Buckie ...
great to see other clubs helping out ... hope we can return the favour!
Neil still managed round in a good time afew days after his 50miler ... what
is this man made of?
24 August 2009
Neil continues to clock up the miles, 50miles at
Strathaven in just under 9 hours (they added an extra few hundred yards to
the finishing line).
6 August 2009
Darren has just been telling me about Terry winning the
corriyairack challenge ... fanastic achievement ... fired up by the second
competitor cutting corners during the run.
3 Aug 2009
To think that I may have beaten Alan Reid (is 93-07 a
PW?) at the Dyce half ... but I pulled my hamstring at Ballater (Yes, I have
a muscle there!) ... Good to see John Diffey sprinting for the line with
Anne Smith; Neil MacRitchie made up a rare PRC team finishing the event
9 July 2009
Alan Reid is the only club member to run on the track
this year; he has competed at the AAAC club championships at 5000m (17-18.7)
and 10000m (35-18.3). 25 laps of a track is not the most interesting
pastime! Is there any interest in holding a club championship 5000m at
Catto Park this year?
Anyone heard from our Canadian runner, Andrew Greig?
Anyone got results from Longside 10k or Mintlaw 10k?
email me john@peterheadrunningclub.co.uk
20 June 2009
Good to see John Diffey and Sandy Hastie back to racing
this year. John has completed some of the Forest Runs winning his age group
at Ben Aigan while Sandy has been completing 5k & 10k races. Ian Duguid won
his 5k race at Mintlaw ... he's pretending that this is as far as he is able
to run ... what about Neil's 95 mile run!
31 Jan 2009
Alan Reid in action at Nairn NDL,
(nabbed from the excellent forres harriers website)

Peterhead to
Fraserburgh Beach Run
2009
-
Results

JR at the Jedburgh half marathon in the gales
District relays
Alan Reid ran all four legs and finished 7th
overall; he was 4th after the first leg.
Scottish 100k Championships
Alan Reid was third in this race around 42 lap
course at the Inches in Perth ... he was the only runner to break 10 minutes
for a lap and in fact did this for 11 of the first 16 laps so had a lead of
10min52 sec at 38k (lapping the second runner who eventually won). He had
been caught by 50k (3hr 43-17) so did well to complete the run. Neil
MacRitchie also complete the course running well at 50k (4hr 47-06) but was
outside his 10hr 30min target by the finish (see
results page)
Peterhead 10k race

Alan Reid won our 10k race and said he was bored
because nobody came to challenge him ... a 100k race is in the plans so he
had run over 100 miles already in the week so a little 6 miler would seem
short! The weather was hot (17oC) with a light wind. We had 94
runners with quite a few locals ... Ally was our first local.
Well done Duncan (wife & daughter) for all the
organising, Peter & Elaine (& family) did great with all the food, and the
Mundies with the time keeping. Good to see John D with all the signs and
Bruce the farmer helping the tidying up.
